Mr. Thompson began his engineering degree in Australia before moving to Canada in 1999. Alex began working at OEL in November 1999 as an engineering student working on either a part time or full time basis while completing his B.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calgary. Upon graduating in 2003 Alex started working full time at OEL as a project engineer until 2011. During this time he worked on a variety of projects and for the latter half as a Senior Project Engineer supervising a project team. In late 2011 Alex left OEL for a position as a Facilities Engineer at Devon Canada where he worked on various projects in their Conventional, Major Capital Projects and Thermal Heavy Oil groups.

In early 2014 Alex returned to OEL and currently manages a team of engineering and support personnel. He is working on the scoping and detailed design, project/construction management and start-up supervision of various oil and gas pipeline and facility projects in Alberta, B.C. and Saskatchewan. These include both grass roots facilities and existing facility expansions and modifications of a variety of size and scope.

Alex’s project experience includes both sweet and sour applications including pipelines, water injection, oil well tie-ins, satellites and batteries and gas well tie-ins, compressor stations and gas plants. He is a licensed professional engineer in Alberta and B.C.
